iTunes U is a free hosted content distribution system from Apple that enables colleges and universities to make audio and video material from lectures, interviews, audio books and other sources available to students and the public with the ease of the iTunes Store. It allows users to download the content to their Mac or PC, transfer the information to a portable device and view or listen to it anywhere and at any time. Texas A&M on iTunes U is a non-commercial site and all content is available at no charge to the public.


Podcasts of University Distinguished Lectures Now on iTunes U

Podcasts of the 2010 University Distinguished Lectures are now available on iTunes U. You may download audio podcasts of "Creativity is a Decision", "How Organisms Tell Time" and "Mark Twain and the Springs of Humor" from Texas A&M on iTunes U at http://itunes.tamu.edu/. Select the "University Events & Lectures" category and click on the "get it" button for the lecture.

Introductory and advanced podcasting workshops now available

Introduction to Podcasting: Podcasting 101

This free workshop will introduce faculty, staff, and teaching assistants to the basics of iTunes U podcasting. In this interactive, hands-on workshop, you will learn:

  • How iTunes U integrates wireless devices such to provide on the go learning
  • Examples of iTunes U best practices
  • iTunes U basics, such as content distribution and intellectual property rights
  • How to record an audio presentation as a podcast

Advanced Podcasting: Podcasting 202

Preferred workshop prerequisites: knowledge and experience in using Audacity and Camtasia in addition to completion of the Podcasting 101 workshop. This free workshop is geared to help faculty, staff, and teaching assistants maximize the benefits of iTunes U podcasting and become recognized as experts in your fields. In this interactive, hands-on workshop, you will learn:

  • How to create podcasts using video, voice, PowerPoint slides, and images.
  • How to find the right equipment for making professional-quality podcasts
  • How to choose the most appropriate file format for your audience
  • Sources for converting media files into the format required by video iPods
